I found this on another forum, a member found an official Khalil Mamoon shop in Cairo, Egypt. He bought a 32" KM for $27 with a KM windcover, Ice chiller and 6 hoses.

I need to trick my girlfriend into going to Cairo with me... Hmm.

I wish I'd known about hookah stuff when I went to Egypt in February, as it is that's what got me into it and I've spent the intervening time wishing I'd sought out a KM to buy sad.gif

I would totally get the biggest suitcase I can find and stuff them with hookahs and hoses.. All KM.. My friend by the way bought Nakhla from Egypt it is packed WAY differently then the Nakhla we get here.. Its not in wax paper its actually wrapped in a nice plastic ha... The box is also a little different but overall the same type of box..

But the material that is used for storage is much better.. It also seemed a bit wetter for normal nakhla in a box.

looks typical of the downtown middle east. if it was syria there would be much more syrian pipes, if it was jordan or lebanon it would be a mixture of Km's and syrians. If you go the "smoke" districts you can easily see 30+ shops selling hookahs next door to each other, along with shisha in 5 gallon buckets (you weigh your own). awesome pics though, really brings me back.

they would probably charge American tourists double the price

They'll try it on but you can haggle them down. I got properly bent over for a keffiyeh and a wrap by one guy because I got confused about the exchange rate, but then I wised up and it was all good from there biggrin.gif

That is only partly true....you can't charge double the price on anything if the person you're trying to overcharge knows what they're doing.

I am Egyptian and when i went to Egypt, I knew what I wanted to pay, and even though they knew I was from America (darn accent!) I still didn't having a problem leaving a store if I didn't like the prices they were throwing at me....I would just walk to the store next door that's selling the same exact things....lol

You know how much the Hookahs should cost, so I don't think you'll have a problem; they have no leverage if you know how much its supposed to cost....
